ShutoCon in Lansing, MI is only 10 days away!  Will you be there?  I will be at table S in the Artist Alley!  Stop by and see all of the new things I have available (some that haven't even been posted to DA yet!)

And I only have 1 remaining commission left from 2013 to finish.  Because ShutoCon is so close and because of at convention commissions I will not be opening commissions yet, but keep an eye out for an announcement in the next few months.

Have you seen the amazing Guardian Plushies made by Skellibini?  If you like her Facebook page you have the chance at winning one!  I was lucky enough to buy a Guardian Cat from her back in 2012, and her work is amazing!

With two conventions just 6 weeks apart, plus a family vacation in the middle, I am very very behind.  I am attending a one day event tomorrow, and then all of my crocheting time will be completely devoted to commissions.  And once I have time I will be adding pictures of some of the newest times that I have made recently.

In case anyone who follows me ordered a commission at ShutoCon or know someone who did, please help.  My computer crashed (thank goodness my husband's didn't at the same time) and the list of all addresses and email addresses for those who ordered from me are gone.

Please send me a note or an email at jedimeg16@gmail.com.  Thank you.

I apologize for the lack of updates recently.  My boys have been keeping me busy and I have been making items that I have made in the past.  I will have a few new items to post soon.  I have several big projects going on and hope to have all of them done around the beginning to middle of April.

Watchers - I have entered a fan art contest to hopefully win a table in the Artist Alley for the biggest convention we attend every year.  The winner it determined by the number of likes their submission gets on their entry on Facebook.  If you can please follow this www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… and vote for me!  The voting will end at 11:59pm central time tomorrow December 6th.  Thank you so much!

With today being Thanksgiving I've been thinking a lot about the things in my life that I am thankful for - my family, our health, my husband's good job, our house.

But I am also very thankful for my fans.  If it wasn't for my fans I wouldn't have my little craft business.  I love meeting people both at conventions and online and being able to share with others my passion for fun crafty items.

Thank you everyone for all of the favorites and comments!

With our 2012 convention season over commissions are now open!  If you want to order something as a gift your order would need to be placed three weeks prior to the gift giving event to guarantee that it arrives in time.

Thank you so much everyone for all of the recent favorites and watches!  I never expected my Merida amigurumi and Starter Pokemon amigurumis to be so popular, but I am very excited that they were so well received!  I hope to have more new items posted soon, most likely next week since our next convention is coming up on October 26-28 in Bloomington, IL.

While I am not quite ready to do so until later this week (lots of doctor appointments for my family this week, plus my birthday), I do want to announce that I hope to reopen my Etsy shop and feature the knitting and crochet patterns I have designed as well as sewing projects.  Once I am able to have a larger rotating inventory of amigurumi toys I hope to offer them in the Etsy store as well, but right now all of my inventory is for at convention sales.

That's how life is at our house.  But juggling everything seems to be getting better - some days more than others.

While the vast majority of the items that I post here on DA are crocheted amigurumis I do like to dabble in other crafts from time to time.  Currently I am on both a sewing and designing streak.  I have two sewn items finished, and a third in progress as well as plans for 8 different knitting and crocheting patterns.

Our next convention will be in early September when we will be returning to Geek.Kon in Madison, WI.  And we will be attending FlatCon in Bloomington, IL for the first time as vendors at the end of October.  This will be a return to my roots because I attended the very first FlatCon as an attendee and was introduced to the world of roleplaying games, which in turn led me to meeting my husband.

While this seems like a lot on my plate I am currently open for commissions.

Anime Central is now exactly 1 month away! If I receive 200 likes by the end of ACen on our Facebook page, there will be a giveaway for a free amigurumi. Please spread the word, share our page, and keep an eye out for the contest post!

Life is temporarily on hold as we adjust to a new reality.  Our second baby decided that he wanted to enter this world 3 1/2 weeks early, so my husband and I have been spending a lot of time sitting around the hospital waiting room in between the times when we can feed and hold him.  While this does give us some extra time to work on amigurumis, it keeps us away from a regular internet connection.

I will still respond to notes and messages whenever possible, but I just wanted to apologize upfront for the delays.

Thank you for understanding!

~Meg

Things have been a whirlwind since I last updated this journal.  We've spent lots of time getting settled into our house, and about a month after we moved in we found out that we're expecting baby #2.  Life has been hectic and crazy, hence why I haven't been posting a lot of things until recently.  I'm really hoping to upload more of the items I've finished and to release a few patterns I've designed shortly.
Last week was... interesting... to say the least.

Pretty much exactly one week ago a massive storm came through our town and knocked out power to over 800,000 homes in the Greater Chicagoland area.  Because of the heat my son and I went and spent the week with my mom until the power came back on, which it finally did around 5pm on Saturday - 129 hours after we lost power.

As a result I am horribly behind in all of the projects I am currently working on.  But now that we are home and settled again I can resume work on everything.  I have a few projects with very short deadlines (the end of this month), but then hopefully it will slow down a little bit and I can properly prepare for Geek.Kon in September.

I'm now 2 months away from my next convention, meaning that I need to start to buckle down and start making more amigurumis again.  Fortunately I know where most of my yarn is, but a lot of things were shuffled around when we moved so it's taking time to find everything I need.

I'm also working toward being ready to apply to Shutocon's Artist Alley, hence why there are more non fan art amigurumis being posted in my gallery.

Another big project that I have coming up will be designing an amigurumi pattern for Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon.  While there are a couple of patterns out there already there is just something off about them that makes me want to design my own.

After a slow start getting myself going again after coming back from maternity leave, I have now found myself sidelined by a pesky gall bladder.  It was bad enough for me to go to the ER last Thursday night, and by Sunday morning I had surgery to remove it.  I'm now on the mend and ready to get back to work.

Anime Central is fast approaching, and I'm busy working on adding new products to my line up this year.

I may also be attending Anime Iowa in July, so keep an eye out for updates.

With everything starting to fall back into place, I will be changing my commission status to open for commissions, but it will be a limited amount.  So if you want an original Meg's Crafty Creations product make certain to order quickly.

I finished my sweater in record time, just in time for Halloween.  Then began the long process of photographing different parts of it for close up shots for the pattern and translating my shorthand notes into actual readable sentences.  I just need to finish a few details on my sweater (the scary button holes) before I will be ready to send the pattern out to my test knitters.

Yes, I still know that it's been forever since I posted anything, but a lot has happened in a short amount of time.  My photostudio arrived, and is awesome, I just need to create some colored backdrops for it; my digital camera died and had to be replaced; and I became obsessed with the ultimate project.

I am designing and knitting Hermione's new sweater from the first part of the Deathly Hallows movie.  It's going to take a while, but I hope to have it done before the movie comes out.

I know it's been a long time since I updated with a new deviation, but it's for a good reason.  With birthday money I was given earlier this month I will be buying a portable photography studio.  This will allow me to take better and more professional pictures of the items I make.

I hope to have it by the end of the month.

Things have also been chaotic with my little boy turning 2 months old.  I unfortunately don't get a lot of time for crafting during the day between keeping up with him and trying to keep the apartment presentable.
